Expllora Turns ONE!

Celebrating with a cupcake from Lola's Cupcakes!

Hello friends, family and complete strangers that read my blog,

Today is a very happy day. An anniversary of sorts. A blog-iversary.
My blog is one year old! *hums happy birthday in the background*

I just wanted to take a moment to step back, look at what’s happened over the past year and probably (definitely) get a bit (a lot) sappy.

Firstly, I want to say THANK YOU. I have had so much encouragement from so many people all around the world to do what I adore – this blog.
I love knowing I’ve helped people around the world with information about au pairing. I also love knowing that people are actually interested in what I get up to and all of the awesome things life has to offer if you make an effort to find them.

Because of this blog, I have had the motivation to go out and experience more of the world. From a tiny thing like going out for brunch and whipping up a quick blog post about it (which, as you know, I like to do often), to travelling to a different country to learn about another culture – this blog is the drive behind it all.

Since starting Expllora, I have been on seven international trips (eight in a few weeks, hello Poland!), met a bunch of cool new people and done some pretty extraordinary things. Of course this isn’t all because of my blog, in fact many of these are unrelated, but I find myself having more opportunities because of the motivation this blog gives me.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I really struggle to write a post about something… I’ll occasionally get stuck in this rut (bloggers block anyone?) where I can’t bring myself to do anything blog-related; no matter how hard I try.
I’ve learnt that that’s okay - often you need to give yourself a break to refresh and keep creating content that’s genuine and worth reading, rather than something completely forced.

I must mention I’ve also (mostly unintentionally) picked up a lot of useful skills along the way!
Basic HTML/CSS coding, photo editing, various other photographic things, writing a blog post with 10% battery and no charger… The list goes on. So that’s quite cool. It’s amazing what you can teach yourself (with the help of the internet) if you put your mind to it.

The best part of all of this is that this is just the beginning. I am going to keep on learning, keep on exploring and keep on creating. Thanks everybody for sticking by me, I appreciate it more than I can put into words and I am excited for what’s to come!

You should all have a cupcake today to join me in celebration! You know you want to…
